When I worked with Brian a few years ago, we talked about him playing with the GD. I made him discs of all the shows where he sat in. He played with them at some Oakland shows too.

The Nevilles (dunno about Stoltz) played on NYE '87, but I think were completely left off of Ticket to New Years, or almost completely. I distinctly remember a lot of stuff from the PPV broadcast that's not on that -- both interviews and music. The Neville stuff was fun. Wish the DVD was really the whole broadcast.

After that one, my only NY show, I remember going to New George's in San Rafael 1/1/88, I believe & caught the Neville's show. Had a table up against the stage. Best part was when Santana appeared for the last ~(maybe) half of the show. He was wearing a Powder Blue Leather jumpsuit (?!) that looked so hot (caliente, not 'picante,' if you will).

But I liked Brian best playing the the Boyz in the 12.16.86 show (drumz>Iko, etc. I think, without checking). A second Iko in as many shows! Had an embarassingly drunken Cajun dinner with Weir & Barlow at Rick B's house before that show, seems like. FOR THE RECORD - My friends still tease me about Weir telling me that I was too drunk or shut-the-..up, or something to that effect.

I'm impressed. You got yelled at by Weir. Tell us the whole story! (If you can remember, ahem, under the circumstances.) Gee, you're like my uncle, whose great WWII story was about getting personally yelled at by Patton :-)
